Every single person living in this chaotic and stressful world works runs, struggles day and night striving to achieve that one thing that can provide them utmost inner satisfaction which can only be attained with a stable mindset.

Mental stability comes with a sense of contentment, a zest for living, the ability to laugh and have fun along with the ability to deal with stress and bounce back from adversity, a sense of meaning and purpose, in both their activities and their relationships, and the flexibility to learn new skills and adapt to change. A balance between work and play, the ability to build and maintain fulfilling relationships, self-confidence, and high self-esteem are some of the benefits out of the multitude of things that can be achieved with a healthy mind.

Once you are emotionally stable that is when you have achieved full control of your emotions, recognize how you feel, and can deal with emotions that start making you feel uncomfortable, hurt, or awkward.

This way you know when it is the right time for you to step away. Once you are emotionally stable and strong, mental stability is gained simultaneously. It is obviously not easy to get hold of your emotions, it takes time, patience, and the willingness of the person to do so as you are the one responsible for your mental state.

Mentors can help you out and guide you on how to regain hold of your emotions but in the end, the ball is in your court, you are the one who has to be determined enough to deal with your emotional flow and figure out the best way to achieve it.

But having a mentor around is going to make it easier and you won’t be dealing with it alone and you will have constant support from someone who is there for you at your every level of success and failure. This helps you keep a track of your emotional growth and mentors can direct you if you feel stuck somewhere or feel that you cannot cope with this alone as it is a very complex and delicate subject that needs to be handled with patience, care, and maturity. A mentor is one safe place you can always go to as while reaching out to your peers or a family member, a person might feel reluctant, but mentors gain the trust and maintain confidentiality while also guiding and directing you on the right path of your journey.

Everyone’s destination is the same but the journey differs from person to person. That means that everyone has their own strategies and ways to handle and deal with their emotional flow which may depend on a lot of things such as the person's childhood, nature, personality, mental capacity, vulnerability, emotional strength, etc.

Mentors take all of this into consideration and figure out their supporting strategies with their mentees accordingly and constantly work on the growth of their mentees. Emotional strength is a very important aspect of this as it is the ability of an individual to overcome their challenging emotional obstacles by turning them into a positive sign for them to grow and develop as an individual.

Some people lack this quality and tend to suffer the most with their emotional imbalance. So, the first step for the mentor of such a person would be to focus on building up their emotional strength. A mentor will work and help you towards achieving your desired goal, they will help reduce anxieties, and instill hope and optimism around the future.

Mishandling of such emotions can result in several mental disorders such as anxiety, depression, personality disorder, bipolar, panic attacks, etc. A survey conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences revealed that 9.8 million teenagers suffer from depression and other mental health disorders and there is a “need of active intervention”.

One in every seven Indians is affected by mental disorders in India [1]. When it comes to physical health everyone has proper knowledge about how to achieve your desired physical health and if not, then there are several ways where a person finds easy guidance for it. But when it comes to how you can improve your mental health stability there isn’t much awareness about it and is almost always ignored.

We are all human beings with emotions so there is no running away from that, therefore everyone has to deal with whatever emotional baggage that comes across in their life, but not everyone knows exactly how you are supposed to handle this and develop and grow as an individual. When this is not solved, this instability tends to stay with you forever and will always be a burden for you that will pull you down. At some point, in your life, this will reach its peak which will result in worse scenarios of mental health disorders and mental breakdowns.

This is why there is a need for a mentor in everyone’s life to guide them accordingly and not take such mental health issues lightly, mentors make sure that their mentees do not have to ever come across such drastic scenarios in their life by becoming their support pillar. Having a mentor will surely prevent mentees from seeking help from alcohol or other intoxication methods as most people dealing with emotional imbalance often tend to lean on such resources.

There are many teenagers and adults as well who often go through mental distress because they don’t accept themselves for who they are and are constantly questioning and comparing with others, in desire of wanting to be like someone else. Mentors help them realize their uniqueness and help them boost up their self-esteem and confidence. Mentors never stop supporting their mentees until they are not completely sure about their capabilities and have the utmost faith that they are now ready to cope with the difficult turns and challenges of lives on their own.
