MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO BECOME THE BEST

Motivation is one of the most important driving forces that is required if a person wants to succeed in whatever they do. Without motivation, a person does not try hard enough to be better at what they do. Motivation might come from anywhere. And one of the greatest examples that motivation is important is Joe Girard.

JOE GIRARD-

Joe Girard is a man who is known by everyone. He is one of the greatest car salesmen to date. Some people waited for days to meet Joe Girard and buy a car from him. Why was that? What did he do exactly to be known as one of the greatest salesmen ever? 

Among other things, one of the main reasons why he worked so hard and earned what he did was because he was motivated to do so. 

LIFE OF YOUNG JOE GIRARD-

Joe Girard referred to motivation as ‘spark.’ To quote him “Spark creates fires.” 

Girard was born in Michigan. His family was not in a good financial position when he was young. His father did not achieve the success he thought he would and the repercussions of which were taken out on Joe both emotionally and physically. That was the first “spark” that Joe needed in his life. Incidents with his father did not discourage him but instead motivated him to do something in life. He was motivated to prove his father wrong. 

His relationship with his mother was completely different than what he had with his father. His mother was very affectionate towards him. She believed in Joe and that he would be successful someday. This was his second “spark”. The belief which his mother had in Joe made him work harder to prove to his mother right. 

WHEN JOE GIRARD STARTED WORKING-

Joe did not finish his education and dropped out after the 11th grade. At the age of 16, Joe started working full-time at a company called Michigan Stove. There he earned $75 weekly and had to work 12 hours daily for six days a week. After that, he went to work as an assistant for a vegetable and fruits vendor. He gained a lot of experience as a salesman there. But soon realized that working there would not take him further in his career.

At the age of eighteen, Joe joined the US Army but later was given an honorable discharge because of medical injury. As he required a job, Joe begged the sales manager of a Chevrolet dealership to hire him. Although reluctant, the manager gave Joe a chance. There Joe had a great experience and realized that he could sell cars very well. But he was asked to leave because of various complaints from his colleagues.

Joe Girard then joined Merollis Chevrolet in Eastpointe, Michigan. That was the place that boosted Joe Girard’s career. He worked there for 12 years and sold the highest number of automobiles in the whole world, setting up a world record. The record still stands, nobody has surpassed it yet. 

Joe Girard earned the title of ‘Automotive Hall of Flame’, the only salesman in the world to ever receive the honor. During his 15 years long career he sold more than 13,000 cars, the highest number in the world. 

LEARNING-

Joe Girard achieved what he wanted to because of his hard work and motivation. In the end, he did prove his father wrong and that his mother’s judgments about him were correct. He showed the world what he could do. All this because he was motivated enough. Motivation can lead people to great heights and that is exactly what Joe Girard’s life tells; that people need “Spark” in their life.
