Steve Jobs is a person who needs no introduction. He revolutionized computer history completely. He was one of the co-founders of the Apple computer. Where he reached in his life, is because he too faced a lot of hardships and obstacles.

LIFE OF A YOUNG STEVE JOBS-

Steve Jobs from a very young age had a very keen interest in machines and electronics. He often worked in his father’s garage by disassembling a lot of the car parts and then assembling them again. That was where his love for machines was born. During this time his father taught him to focus a lot on details. This was one of the key principles that Steve Jobs followed even during his career.

He was a genius at school. When he was twelve years old, he once called Bill Hewlett, the founder of HP, asking him for some electronic parts which he needed for a school project. This impressed Bill Hewlett so much that he offered Steve Jobs a month-long summer internship.

Although Steve went to college, he dropped out in the first semester itself. That was because he never liked the formal education system. But, he had a quest for knowledge so he attended classes that interested him.

FOUNDING OF THE APPLE COMPANY-

During his summer internship at HP, offered by Bill Hewlett, Steve Jobs met Steve Wozniak there. That is where they became very good friends. They would often gather in Job’s garage and work on various computer projects. They created a ‘Blue Box’ that allowed people to make free long-distance calls. They started selling the gadgets that they created.

That is the time when they made their first Apple Machine. They had to approach a lot of investors for their company. Thus, they started their company full-fledged.

STEVE JOB’S INVESTMENT IN PIXER-

It was a hard time for Steve Jobs when he was fired from his own company because of some internal discussions. But this did not demotivate Steve. He established his new company named NeXT. But this company did not flourish much as the prices of the machines were too high.

Later, NeXT merged with Apple and reached where it is today. Although that was a great success, Steve Jobs was not satisfied with it much. He decided to invest in a graphics startup called Graphics Groups; which now is known as Pixar.

Due to his hard work and dedication, Pixar was a big success after the release of ‘Toy Story.’

MAKING PIXAR A SUCCESS-

Pixar was just a startup company when Steve Jobs decided to invest in it. He spent millions of dollars before the results were shown. Steve Jobs had taken a lot of steps and measures to help Pixar reach where it is today.

Firstly, he relocated the company into an abandoned building. The original structure plan for the construction of the building was totally discarded by Steve. The original plan was to make three separate buildings for executives, animators and computer scientists. But instead, he created one huge work area. There in the center would be the atrium.

“Well, what’s our most important function? It’s the interaction of our employees. That’s why Steve put a big empty space there. He wanted to create an open area for people to always be talking to each other,” said Ed Catmull, the current President of Pixar.

The atrium would consist of the cafeteria, meeting rooms, coffee rooms, gift shops and many more. This was a way Steve thought so that people from different departments would meet each other.

LEARNING-

Pixar did not attain such great heights at once. It was a team effort. Steve Jobs made sure that the employees, even though they belonged to different departments, worked together. The creation of the atrium in the center of the building was one of his methods. According to Steve Jobs, the best creations occurred when people from disparate fields were connected together.
