TELL THE TRUTH EVEN WHEN IT SEEMS EASIER NOT TO

It is very important for everyone to be honest in whatever they do. Lying or hiding the truth may seem an easier option at the present, but its result will be harder to face. On the other hand, being honest may seem difficult but will eventually sort everything out.

THE STORY-

There was once a kingdom with a queen. The queen had no children of her own and was often worried about who her successor would be. One day, she decided to pick her successor. She had devised a plan on how she would select her successor. 

The queen called all the children of the kingdom to her palace. She handed over a few seeds to each child and told them to plant these seeds. The queen told them that they had a year each. During that time, they need to plant these seeds, take care of them, water them, and do everything to help the plant grow. 

If done properly, the seeds will turn into beautiful flowers. And at the end of the year, they are supposed to bring the beautiful flowers grown from the seeds to the queen herself.

All the children gathered their seeds and went back home. Each day, they would water the plants, make sure the seeds get ample sunlight. They would keep the insects away from the seeds and take immense care of it. 

The year slowly passed by but nothing grew from the seeds of any of the children. 

Very soon, it was the day when they had to present their flowers to the queen. The children were worried about what they would give the queen since nothing had grown from the seed. So, to impress the queen and give her beautiful flowers, the children bought colorful and beautiful flowers and went to the palace.

Among the children was a young girl, nothing grew from her seeds as well. She too tried everything she could for the whole year, but to no avail. When the others decided to buy the flowers, she simply refused. Instead, she took her pot where she had planted her seeds. 

In the palace, all the children gathered to present their flowers to the queen. When the queen arrived she saw every child with flowers in their hands. Only the young girl was without the flowers. 

Without paying any attention to the rest of the children the queen went to the young girl with the pot. She asked the girl why she was without any flowers. The girl then told the queen the truth, that even after so much effort nothing grew from her seeds. So, she brought the pot where she planted the seeds for the queen.

Hearing that, the queen smiled and told all the children that the seeds which she gave them a year back were all boiled and were dead. So, naturally, nothing would grow from them. But it was only this young girl who was honest and had brought the dead seeds to her. The rest of them purchased the flowers to impress the queen. 

The queen then announced the little girl to be her successor, she knew the girl would be a very just and wise queen for her kingdom. 

LEARNING-

It is better, to be honest at the very first even if it seems hard. The repercussions of lying would be worse than not telling the truth beforehand. Purchasing the flowers and not telling the truth to the queen cost the children a lot in the end. Being honest about having not grown a single flower and presenting the same pot to the queen got her the kingdom.
