When working in a team, each teammate should focus on the goal of the team. Whatever is to be done should be done with the aim of achieving the common goal. Each team member is equally responsible for the success of the team.

There is a story told to help people understand the meaning of “There Is No “I” In Team” in a more easy way.

THE STORY-

There was once a frog. He wanted to go to a place that was situated somewhere in the South. He thought that if he hopped his way towards the South, it would take him a really long time to reach the destination. He thought if by any means he could fly there, it would save him a lot of time. Therefore, he approached a pair of geese.

The frog went to the pair of geese and told them that he wanted to reach a certain place that was in the South. He would have hoped to find his way down there, but it would cost him a lot of time. So, he thought that they could help him reach there.

After listening to the frog, the geese said no even though they wanted to help him. They said that even if they wanted to, they couldn’t do anything to help him.

The frog then thought of an idea to solve his problem. He suggested that the geese can hold a stick in between their beaks and the frog can hold onto the stick. They can then fly off together to the desired destination.

As they heard the frog’s plan, they immediately agreed to help the frog. Thus, the three of them started their journey and flew towards the South. The geese were flying in sync, all the while; the frog was holding the stick in his mouth.

It was a very pleasant sight for the onlookers. The three of them set a great example of teamwork and coordination. Many people commented on how creative the three of them are to help each other and reach where they want to.

Among the many, many admirers someone looked up and expressed what a wonderful sight to behold. He wondered who was clever enough to think of such a creative idea to travel together.

As soon as the frog heard the person say this he opened his mouth and boosted “It was me.”

No sooner did the frog open his mouth than he fell right to the ground below.

LEARNING-

If the frog was not so proud enough to boast about only himself, he would have reached there he wanted to. It was just not because of the frog’s plan that he was flying, but because of the geese’s hard work too.

The three of them flying was a result of their teamwork, and not just the frog’s idea or the geese’s hard work. It was the three of them that made the plan successful.

The moment one of the teammates started to boast of only his achievements and efforts, they failed.
